Warts (including the popular warts) are benign skin lesions of viral origin. Their appearance is most often associated with infection with the human papillomavirus (HPV). Warts are not only a health problem, but often also an aesthetic one, so many people choose to have them removed - especially when they are located on the hands, face or eyelids.
A viral wart develops as a result of contact with the HPV virus - both through direct touch and indirectly (for example, by using public showers or swimming pools). Human papillomavirus infection is often asymptomatic, but some people develop skin growths - of various locations, shapes and sizes. They most often appear on the hands, feet, face, elbows or intimate areas.
Warts can appear in different parts of the body and take different forms. Among the types of warts we distinguish:
Most common, they have a rough surface and a skin-like color. They occur on the hands and feet.
Located on the feet, they are sometimes painful and can cause pain when walking.
They form clusters of flat papules on the soles of the feet.
They most often appear around the eyelids or mouth, and are convex and thread-like in shape.
They occur mainly on the face and backs of the hands. Also known as flat warts.
They appear in intimate areas and require prompt medical consultation.
Removal of warts should be preceded by a consultation with a doctor - preferably a dermatologist or surgeon. Depending on the type of lesion and location, the specialist will suggest an appropriate method of wart removal. It is worth remembering that the treatment of warts should be carried out by professionals, as independent removal can lead to recurrence or spread of the virus.
The procedures are generally safe, especially if performed by experienced specialists. In some cases, scarring may occur, especially with large lesions or after surgery. There are also some contraindications, such as pregnancy, active skin infections and autoimmune diseases.
Laser wart removal is an effective and safe method, especially recommended for lesions in visible areas (such as facial warts). At our clinic, we apply laser therapy to patients, which works precisely to destroy the lesion tissue locally and stimulate the healing process.
Cryotherapy involves freezing the wart using liquid nitrogen. It is a quick and relatively painless procedure for the patient, and is often used for plantar or common warts.
A method involving the burning of warts with an electric current. It works in spots and is effective for seborrheic warts and warts.
